Learn how to surf or improve your skills
We know one of your main reasons for visiting us is to learn how to surf or to improve your skills. But besides showing you how to surf, we also will teach you ocean awareness, basic pre-surf stretching exercises and explain every different break, take off spots, channels, tides, most importantly, safety. We are local surfers who have been surfing and living on Bali over twenty years and we would love to share our experience with you.
Known your surf levels
We subdivide surfing ‘levels’ into five easy to understand categories. Our guests can inform us about their current level in advance, but we also analyses all of them during their first session to verify what level they are on and how we should proceed instructing them for the rest of their trip.

If this is going to be your very first surf lesson or you have had lessons previously but have not yet stood up on the board then this is the level you should choose. Our patient and funny surf instructors
will give you step-by-step training on the sand before taking you into the water to catch your very first wave! As a beginner surfer you will learn how to catch a wave and stand up and control the board in a safe, secure environment. Our instructors will give you an opportunity to try different size boards to see what suits to you personally.
Be prepared to loose your balance and fall off the board at first, but after you have managed to stand up and ride your very first wave we guarantee you will be SURF STOKED!!!! There’s no other feeling like this!!
If you have already surfed before and you are now confidently standing on the board and going straight on the waves, then this is the level you should choose. Now that you can stand up on the board, our surf instructors will help you to develop these skills and build your confidence in the water. You will learn how to improve your paddling technique and board control; and learn forehand and backhand turns along a wave. Now you are really starting to feel like a surfer!! Keep practicing and keep the surf stoke!!!!
If you are already feeling confident in the water and have the ability to paddle strongly, catch a wave by yourself, and make a forehand and backhand turn then this level is for you. Our surf instructors will take you to the next level, so you can begin making top and bottom turns on the wave. Our guide will take you to a variety of surf spots so you can practice your surfing on different types of waves and improve your confidence and ability to deal with bigger waves and open face surfing.
If you are a confident surfer and have already progressed to making top and bottom turns but wish to have further guidance and surf training in the water, then you should choose this level. Our surf
guide will take you to different spots in Bali (both beach and reef breaks) where you will have the chance to improve your surfing skills and explore some of the most amazing waves on the island.
If you are already a confident and experienced surfer and you are interested in chasing the waves and getting a ‘Bali Barrel’, then this is the level you should choose! Our professional and experienced surf guide will take you to some of the best surf spots in Bali depending on the swell and tide that day, enabling you to explore the vast amount of waves in Bali and score yourself a ‘Bali Barrel’ –

If you're trying to pick between the various surf schools in Bali, here's a tip: Many of the options out teach you some basics, and then let you do your own thing for the rest of the time.Surf Bali Adventure / Koyo on the other hand is a genuine, attentive and overall awesome coach. I felt like he had our best interest in mind and he adapted his coaching depending on our skill level too. Even his buddy, Eggy, who assisted us was a solid coach. I absolutely loved my surf lessons with koyo. He was so helpful and knowledgeable but didn’t bombard me with information. I had one lesson and was straight back the next day. He moved me into harder more advanced waves as he saw fit and I never felt unsafe. Honestly I didn’t stop smiling and having a great laugh. BEST SURF EXPERIENCE GOING !!!

Super leuke, leerzame surflessen
Ondertussen kennen wij Koyo al 8 jaar! Deze keer zijn we naar Sanur geweest. Hij geeft je tips, let op je houding maar helaas was zijn GoPro kapot ;). We waren met zijn 4 en hij nam nog 2 instructeurs mee zodat iedereen genoeg aandacht krijgt en golfjes kan pakken. Het was weer een geslaagde surfsessie! See you next time Koyo!

Went to learn surfing from zero and was recommended to do it with Koyo – professional and respectful teacher, made my learning super easy and fun! Great surf even with modest conditions
I had great fun with Koyo, a reliable and great surfcoach who takes the time to analyze and help improve my surfing from day to day. His experience to find a suitable surfspot even with modest conditions i was able to catch some great waves. It was my 2nd time with Koyo and definitely highly recommendable for beginners to intermediates!

Amazing experience – highly recommend
Koyo is an amazing surfing instructor who made our experience unforgettable. He picked us up from our hotel and took us to a beautiful beach where he taught us the basics of surfing. He was very professional, polite and fun, and he made sure we were safe and comfortable at all times. He also took some great photos of us and sent them to us along with the receipt once we paid the deposit. We had a blast surfing with him and our child loved it too. We highly recommend Koyo to anyone who wants to learn surfing in Bali. He is the best!

Best surf instructor in Canggu
I had such a fantastic time learning to surf with Koyo. I had 4 lessons during the time I was in Bali and now I feel confident enough to rent my own board elsewhere. He is so knowledgeable and a great teacher. He is also very flexible with last minute bookings and timings which was fantastic when my plans changed. I cannot thank him enough.
